Bolton Chau and Team
Our group is led by Bolton Chau and is based in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We have a research focus on understanding brain mechanisms of human decision making and predicting cognitive performance using brain data. We employ a variety of neuroscience techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and artificial neural network.
We would like to welcome our new Postdoctoral Fellow, Luzi Xu, to our lab! Welcome Luzi!
We would like to congratulate Nicole Wong for being a recipient of the PolyU Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme! Congrats Nicole for this amazing achievement!
JJ Wong's paper on individual variations in distractor effects is now published at eLife!
We would like to congratulate Jocelyn To for becoming an MPhil student! Jocelyn previously worked with us as a Research Assistant, and we’re excited to see her take this next step in her academic journey!
Dr. Bolton Chau will be giving a talk at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on how the frontopolar cortex is involved in decision-making processes. Please scan the QR code to register and join! We look forward to seeing everyone there!
JJ Wong has been selected to receive the distinguished Research Grants Council (RGC) Postdoctoral Fellowship. The RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship has been awarded to support his work on an innovative research project titled "Exploring a grid-like code for representing decisions in the prefrontal cortex". Congratulations JJ!

We would like to welcome our new Research Assistant, Timothy Ng, to our lab! Welcome Timothy!
Our website has launched!
We would like to welcome our new Research Assistant, Jessie Choy, to our lab! Welcome Jessie!
Our team has recently obtained the RGC Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) of HK$4,591,504. The project title is "Exploring the Human Frontopolar Cortex in Decision Making: Neural Network Modeling, Aging, and Enhancement".
